Richard Wagner: Tristan und Isolde, WWV 90

Back by popular demand, the London Opera Company revives its critically acclaimed production of Wagner's romantic tragedy, Tristan und Isolde. Featuring a full orchestra of professionals and the crème de la crème of London's music graduates, alongside a stellar cast of singers with world-renowned expertise in Wagner, this promises to be an unmissable event for Wagner fans.

Since its inception in 2020, the London Opera Company has earned an enviable reputation for its world-class concert performances of Wagner's operas. The orchestra is led by musical director Peter Selwyn, one of the UK's most experienced opera conductors with a particular specialism for Wagner, having worked on multiple productions at Bayreuth and the Royal Opera & Ballet. The orchestra consists of a core body of top professionals alongside postgraduates from London's prestigious conservatories and excellent non-professional players drawn from London's top amateur orchestras.

The London Opera Company works with home grown world-class singers who perform regularly at some of the most celebrated opera venues, including the Royal Ballet & Opera, English National Opera, Opera North and Longborough Festival Opera. Cast can also be seen regularly performing a range of repertoire elsewhere, including at the BBC Proms and Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

The Peaceful Crystallographer - and other songs

Frances M Lynch
Electric Voice Theatre
UC8
Clerkenwell Community Choir

Join Electric Voice Theatre at Conway Hall for a special 20th Bloomsbury Festival singing celebration of Crystallographer Dame Kathleen Lonsdale (1903-1971) - the first female professor at UCL and the first female Fellow of the Royal Society. Defying all odds, her pioneering science led to breakthroughs in organic chemistry and medical treatments. Beyond science, Lonsdale was a prison reformer, women's rights activist and pacifist, warning of the dangers of nuclear physics and wealth inequality in her book Is Peace Possible?

Electric Voice Theatre will be joined by some wonderful young acappella singers from University College London who call themselves UC8 and a group of singers from the exceptional Clerkenwell Community Choir, to perform music which reflects Lonsdale's eclectic life. Ranging through Irish folk song, music-hall, stirring anthems and ethical hymns. The performance features works by Judith Weir and Cheryl Frances-Hoad, Lonsdale's contemporaries like Elizabeth Maconchy, Shena Fraser and Clara Novello Davies and Conway Hall's radical thinkers, Eliza Flower and Emily Josephine Troup.
