Amit Goswami and Asit Goswami are brilliant young artists of Sarod and Sitar. The twin brothers were born in Bikaner, in a family of musicians and artists. Goswami brothers learnt the intricacies of Indian instrumental music from their father Pt. Jash Karan Goswami, who is a reputed sitar player and recipient of Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy Award. Pt. Jash Karan Goswami is a disciple of legendary Sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
Sarod player Amit stood first in All Rajasthan Music competition, organised by Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy in 1990 & 1992, and received scholarships for two years. He was awarded “Allah Jilai Bai Memorial Award” by the district administration. Sitar player Asit won All Rajasthan Music competition in 1992, organised by Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy. At present he is a lecturer in Sitar with Government College, Bikaner. They have been awarded “The Most Outstanding Youth of the Year” in 1991 by All India City Junior Chambers.
Goswami brothers have developed their own distinctive style of, which is a blend of both Tantrakari (instrumental) & Gayki (vocal) styles. They have earned a credit in the field of rare, delicate and meticulous art of Duet (Jugalbandi). Amit and Asit are regular broadcasters of Akashwani and Doordarshan. Both have been awarded ‘A’ Grade by All India Radio. They have also done M.Mus.(Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwa Vidyalaya, Khairagarh), Sangeet Visharad (Bhatkhandey Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow), and Sangeet Prabhakar (Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahbad), all with first division.
For last ten years, Goswami brothers have been performing all over India for various prestigious organisations like – Jawahar Kala Kendra- Jaipur, Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy (various places), Bharat Bhawan-Bhopal and live concerts of various stations of Akashwani. They have been participating in projects of light music for cassettes and TV serials.
