 After conducting Beshazzar's Feast with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra during the 1963 July music festival, William (Walton) astonished his fellow guests at the final dinner in Tel Aviv, offering to thank the artists who had taken part, by saying, "I have something that no one here has." When everyone turned to him expectantly, he smiled beatifically and said, "A foreskin!". I alone found this outrageous statement funny.
