The 'Seventh Chapter of Fine Brass' has established itself as one of Australia's finest young ensembles through its innovative repertoire and acclaimed performances. The 'Seventh Chapter of Fine Brass' has performed extensively throughout Brisbane in various festivals such as the Southern Cross International Music Festival, the Energex Festival and the Bluewater Festival. They have also played for Arts Council functions at the Treasury Casino, 'NumB' new music concerts, school and university concerts as well as playing to audiences at the Zoo Nightclub, Ric's Cafe and the Hub Internet Cafe.

Jirayr Shahrimanyan began his musical education at the age of 7 studying in Avet Gabrielyan music school piano and later composition. During 2003–04 he took private lessons of composition and theory from Martin Israelyan. Jiang Shangrong was born in 1971, in Shandong, China. He started learning singing at the age of 20, having won a place at the Shandong College of Arts. From 1994 until 1996 he worked as an announcer at the Shandong People’s Radio station and at the Radio station “Culture and Art”. In 1996 Shangrong won a place at the Shanghai Conservatoire of Music studying under professor Lao Changyong, which he graduated from in 1999. During his studies at the Conservatoire Shangrong gave lots of concerts, including recordings at the Shanghai Ost Radio Station. Since 2000 he has been studying as a Postgraduate student at the Moscow State Conservatoire named after Tchaikovsky, studying under Professor Boris Kudryavtzev. During this period he has given a lot of concerts in Moscow and other cities of Russia. In 2001 he became a prizewinner of the Moscow Spring Music Festival (3rd prize). He became a Diploma winner at the International Vocal Competition “Bella Voce” (2001, 2002).The following year Shangrong took part in the Samara International Festival “Young stars of the XXI century”. In 2002 he started working as an opera singer at the Opera Theatre of the Moscow State Conservatoire where he appeared in such parts as Germon (“La Traviata” by Verdi), Escamillo (“Carmen” by Bizet) etc.

Alex Shapiro was born in New York City in 1962 and educated at The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. She studied composition with Ursula Mamlok and John Corigliano before moving to Los Angeles in 1983, and composed scores for feature films, television and documentary projects for many years before returning her focus to concert music. Her award-winning chamber works are programmed regularly, and as a composer, essayist, lecturer and panelist she is an active participant in the Southern California music community.

Alex revels in the triangular relationship between composer, musicians and audience, and creates expressive compositions, often commissioned by musicians who have previously performed her work. A recipient of a 2000/2001 Artist Fellowship from The California Arts Council in recognition of her rhythmic and lyrical chamber music, Alex has also received grants from ASCAP and Mu Phi Epsilon. Ms. Shapiro is the former Vice President of The Society of Composers & Lyricists and serves as an officer of both NACUSA and The College Music Society. Born in Oxford in 1976, David Lewiston Sharpe was educated in London, culminating in a period of study at King's College, University of London, from where he graduated in 1998 with a BMus (Hons). He has also studied composition at the Guildhall School of Music with Gary Carpenter, and piano and harpsichord with Virginia Black at the Royal Academy of Music. ,

He has already written over fifty works, including orchestral pieces, chamber works, piano pieces and art songs. 2002 saw the world premiere of his Piano Concerto No.1, given by Andrew Zolinsky with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Nicholas Cleobury. In addition to this he has written Symphony No.1, for wind orchestra; a symphonic poem, 'The Pillar of Seikilos'; a Concertino for Violin and Orchestra; a suite for 11 instruments,'A Salvador Dalí Suite', premiered by e2K in 1999, conducted by Robin Newton; several works for double basses, including two commissions for a work for bass quartet, 'Invocation', and a mammoth score for twenty basses, 'Cori Spezzati', both given their first performances at Wellington College, Berkshire, UK. , Other pieces, including a motet for Soprano and chamber orchestra have been performed at King's College, London.

Alexander Shchetynsky (Ukraine), born in 1960 in Kharkiv, graduated from the Kharkiv Art Institute, later participated in master-classes in Poland and Denmark (lectures by P. Ruders, E. Denisov, L.Andriessen, W.Lutoslawski, K.Penderecki, B.Schaeffer, M.Lindberg a.o.).

He is a prize-winner of five international composers competitions: named after Kazimierz Serocki and Witold Lutoslawski in Poland, Composers Competition of Sacred Music in Switzerland, Henri Dutilleux Composers Competition in France, Gustav Mahler Composers Competition in Austria. In 2000 his chamber opera "Annunciation" was awarded the Russian National Theatrical Prize Gold Mask in nomination "innovation".

Since late 80s his compositions have been regularly presented at many important festivals in Europe, performed among others by the Moscow opera house "Helikon-Opera", the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, children's choir Maitrise de Radio France, the Arditti String Quartet, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Ensemble Wiener Collage, Stockholm Saxophone Quartet, Mark Pekarsky Percussion Ensemble, the pianist Ivar Mikhashoff, soprano Phyllis Bryn-Julson. Christopher began playing the piano at the age of six studying with Tanya Polunin in London. Two years later he became a Junior Exhibitioner at the Royal Academy of Music. As a graduate from the Royal College of Music Christopher studied with Edward Brooks winning several college prizes.

Christopher has performed extensively around England and Europe including the British Premiere of John Joubert's 'Three Faces of Love' at the Windsor Festival.

Christopher has sung with the London Mozart Players, the Monteverdi Choir, the Gabrieli Consort and the Musicke Company with which he made his Wigmore Hall debut.

Hannah Shields has performed widely throughout the United States as both a soloist and a chamber musician. She recently appeared in Carnegie Hall as a soloist under the baton of Itzhak Perlman. She has also performed in such venues as Weill Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Seattle Opera House and Boston's Jordan Hall; and has given recitals at many colleges and universities.

Ms. Shields began her piano studies with Elaine Felder at the Music Institute of Chicago. She first gained recognition, at the age of nine, as a prize winner in the YKAA International Piano Competition in Winter Park, Florida. Most recently, she was a top prize winner in the Kosciuszko Chopin Competition in 2002.

Highly regarded as a chamber musician, she has participated in such festivals as the Yellow Barn Music Festival, the Banff Chamber Music Festival, the Taos School of Music, and the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival. She has collaborated with such well-known artists as Barbara Stein Mallow, Itzhak Perlman, Kathy Murdock, Pinchas Zukerman, and Andre Emelianoff. In 2001 she received the Carmen Mihalache Dimulescu Memorial Award, given by the Cleveland Institute of Music in recognition of outstanding collaborative achievement by a young pianist.

Ms. Shields studied with Daniel Shapiro at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she earned her B.M. degree and was awarded the Arthur Loesser prize for excellence in piano performance. This was followed by graduate studies with Claude Frank at Yale University, where she earned an M.M. degree, and with Vivian Weilerstein at the New England Conservatory of Music.

Mary Sholl has the astonishingly rare range of First Soprano through Second Tenor, most likely due to male shortages in various groups. Bel Canto trained, performance experience nonetheless also embraces rock and roll, rhythm and blues, jazz, folk, gospel and new age, and diction includes French, Italian, German, Spanish, Latin and Hawaiian, plus innumerable works transliterated.

Initially reared in the rich singing tradition offered at All Saints' in Chevy Chase, Maryland, soloistic qualities were elaborated upon at home by virtue of a mother who was a concert pianist who also enjoyed singing with her five children clustered around the piano, and then put into full swing with private voice lessons at home once moved to Piedmont, California.

Continuing a rich singing life, Mary was continuously the youngest ever admitted to whatever established group it was she was singing in, and following a passion for madrigals, founded The Troubadours, which today annually remains a tradition with some talented Piedmont High School students, who indepedently hold auditions to keep the singing positions filled and going strong.

Majoring in Voice Performance at the University of the Pacific's Conservatory of Music, Mary transferred to the University of Nevada, Reno, to simultaneously perform with The Nevada Opera, which she did for three years and also served as one of the make-up artists. She continued performing in groups and as soloist in Reno, as well as again in the greater metropolitan Washington, D.C. and San Francisco Bay areas. Additionally, Mary has served as an executive assistant in offices of law, banking, high tech, and to a music conductor, and has taken steps to augment her singing by additional coursework to embrace film, business, computers, the business practices of photography and a great deal more.

Noriko studied with Paul Patterson at the Royal Academy of Music for four years, and recently graduated with a BMus (Hons) degree from the University of London.

Described by critics as a "truly inspiring and brilliant pianist...spellbinding in sensitivity and mastery of technique," Dr. Nadia Shpachenko is an active soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. She has performed extensively in solo recitals and with orchestras in North America and Europe in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Château de Modave in Belgium, Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Most recently she toured Mexico with Orquesta de Baja California, and performed with the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra in Ukraine and the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra in California.

In addition to bringing out new facets of the traditional repertoire, Dr. Shpachenko enjoys applying her deep interpretation to new repertoire by performing and premiering music by contemporary composers. Her recent notable premieres include Michael Garson’s Homage to Ligeti at Carnegie Hall, a Piano Quartet by Ukrainian composer Yuri Ishchenko at the Ukrainian Institute of America, and the West Coast premiere of Elliott Carter’s Dialogues for Piano and Chamber Orchestra with the Nimbus Ensemble in Los Angeles. Dr. Shpachenko is also touring a series of lecture-recitals exploring the relations between modern art and modern music, including one on Unorthodox Use of Piano by 20th Century American Composers and one commissioned by the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC to accompany its Modigliani exhibit.

Born in Ukraine, Dr. Shpachenko completed her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees at the University of Southern California, where she was awarded the title of Outstanding Graduate. Her principal teachers have included such distinguished musicians as John Perry in Los Angeles, Victor Rosenbaum in Boston, and Victor Derevianko in Israel. She has won top prizes in numerous competitions, including the California International Young Artists Piano Competition, Wideman International Piano Competition, Grace Welsh International Prize for Piano, Corpus Christi International Piano Competition, National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Competition, MTNA Collegiate Piano Competition, and the USC Piano Concerto Competition. Dr. Shpachenko has performed at the International Holland Music Sessions, Aspen, Cliburn, Manchester, Orford, Sarasota, Music Academy of the West, Tel-Hai, and Saluzzo International Music Festivals. Her performances have been featured on many radio and television stations in California, Massachusetts, New York, Ukraine, the UK, and Italy and released on CDs in Europe and the U.S.

In 2006, Dr. Shpachenko joined the faculty of the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona as an Assistant Professor of Music. She is also Professor of Piano at the Shepherd University School of Music. Dmitri Shteinberg has appeared across North America, Germany, England, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Bulgaria and Israel. His solo performances include the Jerusalem Symphony, The Italian Philarmonica Marchetiana, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Israel Camerata Orchestra and Porto National Symphony; he was a guest artist at the Sarasota and Summit Music Festivals, Music Festival of the Hamptons, the 'Oleg Kagan' Festival in Germany, Festival Aix-en-Provence in France and Open Chamber Music in Cornwall, England. Recent concerts include Kennedy Center and Alice Tully Hall, a recital at the Boas Charitable Trust in London and a performance of Beethoven¿s complete cello and piano sonatas at BargeMusic in New York.

Recently called 'protean and refined' by the New York Times, Shteinberg recorded for the Israeli 'Voice of Music' radio station, WQXR, WHMT, the Bavarian Radio and the Yamaha Disklavier; collaborated with New York Philharmonic members and the cellists Han-Na Chang and Natalia Gutman. In the United States, he won the Naomi Foundation Competition and the Artists International Debut Award, and received the Salon De Virtuosi Fellowship Grant.

A native of Moscow, Dmitri Shteinberg studied at the Gnessin Special School of Music under Anna Kantor, teacher of Evgeny Kissin. His later teachers include Victor Derevianko and Nina Svetlanova, both students of Heinrich Neuhaus. Shteinberg holds a Doctorate from the Manhattan School of Music, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Piano and Coordinator of Piano Area at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He is also on faculty at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, VT.
