Recently, Gianeh and Ovanes have been invited to perform at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, on March 21, 2004, in the Annual Gala Benefit Concert of the American Youth Symphony, at the Los Angeles Music Center. They performed "Carnival of the Animals" by Camille Saent- Saens, with the American Youth Symphony Orchestra, directed by Maestro Alexander Treger. The second half of the program included a performance by an internationally acclaimed pianist, Alexander Toradze, performing the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3 in C-major, Op. 26.

Since 1997, Gianeh studies with a world renowned professor and pianist Daniel Pollack. Recently, in May 2003, Gianeh earned her Bachelors of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Southern California Flora Thornton School of Music. Gianeh and Ovanes have participated in several music competitions and festivals, winning numerous prizes in California and abroad. Gianeh performed in the "Fall 2001 International Festival" in Russia, presenting the Piano Concerto by Aram Khachaturian with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, directed by Vladimir Ponkin. In June 2002, Gianeh has performed and recorded as a soloist in the "Yerevan International Music Festival" with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Ruben Asatryan. The performance was held at the Grand Philharmonic Concert Hall named after Aram Khachaturian. Her future appearances include duo recitals with her brother Ovanes Arakelyan, also pursuing Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance at the USC Thornton School of Music under the tutelage of Prof. Daniel Pollack. Ovanes and Gianeh have appeared on different stages as soloists as well as a duet team - " Duo Maestoso".

As representatives of the new-coming generation of musicians, the siblings have premiered a spectacular program on August 29, 2003, held at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, Hollywood, for the 100th Anniversary of Khachaturian. The program included the "Sabre Dance," from "Gianeh" Ballet, and "Elegy" by A. Babajanyan, performed by Ovanes. The First movement of Khachaturian’s brilliant Piano Concerto was performed by Gianeh, accompanied with a recorded playback of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, along with a symbolic film presentation on a projection screen.

The duo recently released a CD, dedicated to the Centennial Celebration of the universally acclaimed composer, Aram Khachaturian. Their performances have been broadcasted on Television in the U.S. The recording has been highly acclaimed by music critics including, Richard Ginell, music critic of the L.A. Times and the American Record Guide. In his comments Ginell stated, "...Excellent pianist, with plenty of technique, Romantic temperament and Fire..." Tigran Arakelyan is an Armenian-American conductor and flutist. Mr. Arakelyan is working toward Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting at Cal State University Northridge. At Northridge he is the Assistant Conductor of University Orchestra, Discovery Players (new music ensemble) and CSUN Youth Philharmonic. Previously he was a Conducting Fellow with California Philharmonic assisting Maestro Victor Vener. He was one of eight conducting fellows invited to participate in 2010 Seasons Festival Academy where he conducted the Yakima Symphony Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Arakelyan participated in masterclasses with Frank Battisti, Donald Thulean, Lawrence Golan, Brooke Creswell and Tony Mazzaferro.

He was the founder and Music Director of Cadence Chamber Orchestra in Seattle; the orchestra premiered a new piece at every concert as well as traditional repertoire. Arakelyan conducted the Pacific Northwest premiere of Paul Hindemith Kammermuzik Nr. 1. He has also premiered works by Iosif Andriasov, Jon Brenner, Arshak Andriasov, Gracie Sutherland and Brendon Wilson. Cornish College of the Arts gave a grant in support of his work with Cadence Chamber Orchestra. He is a recipient of Nellie Cornish and Welland Jordan Scholarships and first place winner of the Armenian Allied Arts Competition. He graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance and Lark Musical Conservatory with a performance diploma.

Mr. Arakelyan has played in masterclasses with renowned flutists Dr. Stephen Preston, Shigenori Kudo, Dr. John Barcellona, Dorli McWayne and Dr. Shelly Collins. . He studied flute with Paul Taub, Dr. John Barcellona, Laura Osborn, Christina Badalyan and chamber music with Bern Herbolsheimer and Stephen Stubbs.

P. B. Archotnides is a well-established Greek-Australian pianist. He has trained with E. Powell at the Sydeny University's Conservatorium (a pupil herself of Arrau) and with D. Toufexis (an esteemed Julliard graduate, pupil of Lateiner and Masselos). Mr. Archontides is himself also a graduate of the American College of Greece and of the Skalkotas Conservatory of Greece with highest distinctions.

He has won several piano competitions in Greece and Australia and has appeared solo and as member of the piano duo he has formed with his wife N. Tsaldarakis at the Sydney Opera House, the Sibelius Academy, the Megaron Hall of Athens, the Penteli Festival etc.

He teaches piano and higher theoretical studies at the National Conservatory of Greece (Glyfada Annex). He also teaches at the American College of Greece (where he conducts the 100-member Pierce College Choir) and at the Athens Institute of Music (an affiliate of the National Conservatory of Greece awarding the Associate and Graduate Certificates).

David Arditti was born in 1964 and lives in London. He is chiefly a composer, but also a conductor, accompanist and teacher.

His compositions include many songs and song-cycles setting many of the major British and American poets, piano music, including his popular "Songs without Words", chamber music, including a String Quartet, orchestral works, choral music, including settings of the Requiem and the mass, and film music. His works have been performed widely in Britain and the United States and are published in both countries.

As ha composer and advocate he is wholeheartedly committed to the revival of simple melodic and harmonic beauty in modern classical music. Some recordings can be heard on his website.

Karin van Arkel first studied dance and theatre at the art academies of Amsterdam and Utrecht. From 1995 she studied classical singing at the Royal Conservatory The Hague. Teachers (among others): Lenie van den Heuvel, Diane Forlano and Barbara Pearson. In 1999 she got a bachelor degree, and in 2001 a master degree at the Royal Conservatory.

Already during her studies she performed in several opera productions, and sang the roles of Lady Billows in Albert Herring of Benjamin Britten (in a production of the New Opera Academy Amsterdam/The Hague), Dido in Dido and Aeneas of Henry Purcell, and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus of Johann Strauss jr. She also performed several operetta roles as a member of the operetta company 'Thalia' in Amsterdam.

She participated in several master classes, with Christina Deutekom, Elly Ameling, and Graham Clark (among others), and took part in the Gregynog Festival Master Classes (Wales), with Diane Forlano and Barbara Pearson. In 2000 she was a participant of the belcanto course of Dame Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge at the Britten Pears School of Music in Aldeburgh.

Karin van Arkel can be heard as soloist in opera-concerts, lied- recitals, and in oratoria. Lately she performed for instance the soprano solo parts in the Petite Messe Solenelle of Rossini, and in the Missa Criolla of Ramirez. Lately she also gave lied-recitals with compostions of Brahms, Berg en Schoenberg. And she works as a soloist with the woodwind ensemble 'Cobla La Principal d'Amsterdam' . March 2003 Karin van Arkel performed the role of Rosalinde in a production of Die Fledermaus conducted by Jan van Maanen, with the AUKSO Extended Chamber Orchestra from Katowice. April 2003 she sang the soprano solo part in the Gloria of Poulenc, with the student choir and student orchestra of the University of Nijmegen, conducted by Quentin Clare.

was born in London in 1954 and studied at Trinity College of Music. After very successful performances with the major ensembles of England he had engagements at festivals in Paris, Berlin, Madrid, Edinburgh, Utrecht und Brügge as well as in Jerusalem and in Athens.

Howard Arman had international performances with choirs as the NDR-Choir Hamburg, the Südfunk Choir Stuttgart, the MDR-Choir Leipzig and the RIAS-Chamberchoir Berlin. He also conducted the ORF Choir in Austria. With the Salzburger Bachchoir, founded by Howard Arman in 1983, a very important choir in Austria and also international, he made over 100 performances and recordings of choir and orchestra works from baroque up to the music of the 20th century. The Innsbrucker Capellknaben were founded by Howard Arman in 1991. In Italy Arman had many concerts and recordings in cooperation with the composer Hans Werner Henze at Festivals in Rome and Montepulciano. In 1991 Howard Arman had his debut in the Wiener Musikverein. In 1995 Arman conducted the opening cermony of the Salzburg´s Festival. Since his debut in Salzburg Arman has performances at the "Salzburg-Festival" regularly. For example with Handels "Israel in Egypt".

In 1996/1997 Howard Arman conducted concerts with the Essener Philharmoniker, the Mozarteum Orchester, the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, the Symphony Orchestra of Tyrol and the orchestra of the opera house Halle an der Saale. He conducted concerts in Portugal, Greece, Italy and Japan.

Matthew Ash was born in Leicester in 1978 and began playing the piano, under the tuition of classical improvisation expert Nigel Allcoat, at the age of 6. After moving to the North West area in 1986, Matthew continued his studies with the late Katrina George, and then Marjorie Clementi of the RNCM, before studying with Andrew West and John Clegg as an undergraduate at the University of Lancaster. Matthew graduated in 2000 with a BMus(Hons) degree and was awarded the Denis McCaldin Performance Prize for the quality of his final recital. Matthew has also benefitted from private and public master class sessions with British concert pianists Martin Roscoe, and Robert Bell and, as a teenager, was an annual recipient of the Lancashire County Music Award - given by audition to a small number of promising musicians.

As a solo recitalist, Matthew has performed across the North West for Fylde Arts; Lytham St.Annes Music Circle; Garstang Arts Centre; Penrith Piano Circle; ULMS Lunchtime Concerts; and Grundy Midday Recitals. Matthew has also appeared as piano soloist with Fylde Sinfonia and Blackpool Symphony Orchestra in concertos by Grieg (A Minor); Rachmaninov (No.2); and Beethoven (No.5) as well as the Litolff Scherzo. Matthew recently formed a piano duo with pianist Adam Greig, also a postgraduate at the University of Lancaster, and they are currently developing programmes for future performances. Rachel Ashton was born in Liverpool to a farming family. Following her first degree in Linguistics and Italian at Lancaster University she embarked on a career with the Civil Service. She subsequently studied for a postgraduate diploma in vocal studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama supported by a bursary from the Laura Ashley Foundation. She currently studies under Suzanne Murphy and Neil Howlett. A flexible and versatile performer, Rachel enjoys performing works from opera, operetta, lieder, Russian song, oratorio/sacred music and musical theatre. Sarah Askey,violinist aged 24,was trained at the Welsh Conservatoire and Trinity College,London. Taught by the principle of the BBC NOW and Philharmonia, James Clarke and for her second instrunment- Baroque violin by the leader of the Amsterdam Baroque, Margaret Faultless.

A strong foundation to performance has been made and a selection of performance achievements to date include: Membership of National Youth Orchestra of Wales,1992-1998. Selection via audition 1999 to work with the BBC NOW under the baton of Taadaki Otaka, as part of a BBC Education venture. Winner of Royal Philharmonic Society Sir John Barbirolli Prize For Strings 1999. Selected in 2000 to join the highly esteemed Britten Pears Baroque orchestra.

Member of the London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, giving regular concerts in the Royal festival Hall and recieving first-rate coaching from the principle strings of the Philharmonic itself Collaborations with composers such as Noah Nicholson, performing and recording his work for BBC2 coverage of the Young Dancer of the Year 1999, and BBC Wales Education series 'History File', the latter being nominated for a BAFTA that year.

The Astor Guitar Duo was formed in 1996 in hommage to the great argentin composer Astor Piazzolla. The same year, they joined the Ecole Normale de Paris "Alfred Cortot" to study under the direction of the Maestro Alberto Ponce. They obtained the Diplôme Supérieur d´Exécution highly commended by unanimous decision of the jury (1997) and the Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste again by unanimous decision (1998). It was the first time in the history of the Ecole Normale that a guitar duo had obtained such recognition above all other instruments . From 1998 to 2000, they pursue perfectionment classes first in the Hochschule fur Musik Köln, Germany, with M° Roberto Aussel and then with M° Alvaro Pierri in Montréal, Canada. They also followed masterclasses with L. Brouwer, A. Dumond, R. Dyens and J. Tomas.

They won more than 20 prizes in prestigious national and international competitions in solo and in duo, among them: 1995: 1° Prize in the II° International Competition in Locquemeau (Supérieur), France. 1995: 1° Prize in the National Competition Royaume de la musique, France. 1995: Prize «Young Talent» in the International Competition BBYO in Genève, Switzerland. 1996: 1° Prize of Interpretation in the International Competition A.A.C.E. The duo has been invited in important festivals: Festival Musicora in Paris, Festival Internacional de Torroella de Montgrí in Spain, Musical Olympus International Festival in St Petersburg (Russy), International Festival of Palermo and Siracusa (Italy). They performed in prestigious halls as Salle Cortot (Paris), Théâtre de la Villette (Paris), Abbaye St-Victor in Marseille, Teatro Comunale in Alessandria, Teatro Olmeto in Milano, Teatro Araldo in Turin. For the Astor Guitar Duo, it is important to create and suscitate new pieces for its formation. In this way, in 1999, the duo played the first world creation of "Litania" by Paola Brino, composition which obtained the 1° Prize in the Alessandria International Competition of Composition. Compositors like A. Dumond dedicated them some of their works. They also made the first world recording of the beautiful "Homenaje a Villa-Lobos" by Antonio Ruiz-Pipó. They have taken part in many recordings for radio and television: Deutsche Welle (Germany), Cadena Ser (Spain), R.T.V.E (Spain), R.A.I. (Italy), etc. They have also recorded 3 Cd´s, the last one in the label Harmonia Mundi- Mandala.

Concert pianist Konstantine Athanasakos has performed throughout the United States as well as in England, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Greece as soloist, recitalist and chamber musician, bringing standing ovations in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, London, Paris, Nice, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Zurich, Rome, Milan, Murcia, Valencia, Athens and Salonica. One of the youngest nominees-ever for the National Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Greece, and First Prize winner in the ’03 Concours F.Clidat-L.Talmart’ in Paris, Mr. Athanasakos received early recognition as the Grand Prize winner of the Athens National competition at 14 and as a Unanimous Premier Prix Graduate of the Athens Conservatory at 18. An ‘Artist Diploma’ graduate of the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, Mr. Athanasakos also pursued Doctoral studies at the University of Indiana at Bloomington under the supervision of Menahem Pressler and Franco Gulli. He earned his Masters and Graduate degrees (with both honors and distinction) from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, which he entered at the suggestion of Leon Fleisher. His mentors there included G.Chodos, P.Zander and R.Sherman. Mr. Athanasakos taught in the Athens Conservatory for 3 years, starting from age 16. He served as a visiting recitalist/lecturer at the American College of Greece and has been an Artist-in-Residence at Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris.

The Atlantic Chamber Orchestra was formed in the Spring of 1999 with a vision of bringing classical music to new audiences. Mr. Auerbach-Brown received his BM in Composition from Ithaca College where his major teachers were Dana Wilson and Gregory Woodward. He went on to complete his MM in Composition at the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with Donald Erb.

Mr. Auerbach-Brown was awarded an ASCAP Young Composers’ Award in 1996 for his Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano. In 1998 Mr. Auerbach-Brown was the recipient of a Charles Ives Scholarship given by the American Academy of Arts and Letters to “composition students of great promise.” Other notable performances include the premiere of Mr. Auerbach-Brown’s String Quartet at Weill Recital Hall in December of 1997 by the Cavani Quartet.

Mr. Auerbach-Brown is active as an educator, teaching music theory and composition at the Cleveland Music School Settlement, as well as teaching classes in the Liberal Arts department at the Cleveland Institute of Art. His classes at CIA focus on the connections between contemporary music and sound art with the visual arts. Mr. Auerbach-Brown is also a member of the Cleveland Composers’ Guild and the American Composers’ Alliance. His works have been performed regularly on ACA’s yearly Festival of American Music. He is also a contributing editor to the New Music Connoisseur.

Janice Garnett Augustus (b. 1945) is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. Beginning at an early age, she studied piano extensively under the tutelage of Rose Widder (protege of Leopold Godowsky, Russian pianist and composer) and violin with Gino Antal (of the Cleveland Orchestra). She majored in violin at Howard University in Washington, D.C. In addition to violin and piano, she is well-versed in many other instruments. She has played violin in numerous orchestras, and flute and piccolo in several bands.

Janice currently lives in Southern California with her husband, writer Michael G. Augustus. She is the mother of five children and grandmother of ten. She recently retired after twenty years as a teacher for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. She also served for twenty-six years as organist and director of two choirs for English and Bilingual Masses, for which she used much original music. All of Janice's music is dedicated first and foremost to God and to her late mother, Willistine Garnett.

Janice is a member of the Center for the Promotion of Contemporary Composers (CPCC), the American Composers Forum (ACF), the Society of Composers, Incorporated (SCI), the International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM), and the National Association of Composers, USA (NACUSA), and ASCAP.
