We are recommended by the major hotels and convention centres here in Ottawa, Canada. Canada is a multicultual country and so we are happy to do music from around the world. Most of what we do is classic and Celtic. We rockin' good dance bands who do well at big corporate parties.

JOHANN HASLER is one of the leading composers of the younger generation in Colombia. He was born in 1972 in Medellín, Colombia, son of German and Chilean immigrants. He started his musical studies at age 4, and has continued them hitherto, studying among others with composers Blas Emilio Atehortúa and Guillermo Gaviria, as well as with musicologists Ellie Anne Duque and Egberto Bermúdez. He started composing at age 14, and has to the date composed more than 120 works for nearly every instrumental, vocal and electronic combination. Some of his works fall clearly in the so called 'contemporary' style of classical music, while others are neo-tonal, either neo-romantic or neo-medieval /neo-renaissance. In 1994 he was awarded a grant from Indiana University and the United States Information Service to attend the Inter-American composition workshop 'Words and Music' where he worked and studied for three weeks with other composers from the Americas, among them Tania León, Mario Lavista and George Crumb. Later that year he was awarded the National Prize of Composition of Colombia for his work "Tres piezas para percusión, arpa, celesta y piano" (Three pieces for percussion, harp, celesta and piano) which was printed next year by the Colombian Institute of Culture, Colcultura. During the following years Hasler was quite active in the Colombian electro-acoustic scene, being selected for the last round of the National Competition of Electro Acoustic Composition in 1995, having his works broadcasted through several Colombian broadcasting companies. In 1996 he obtained the National Prize of Composition for the second time, this time with his work "Délires", for baritone and chamber ensemble. He made his debut as a conductor with this piece, conducting it in the most important theatre of Colombia, the Teatro Colón de Bogotá, the 24th. of October, 1996. In 1999 he obtain a government grant to compose the first full-length Colombian Opera in over 30 years, and he is currently working on this project.

Several of his percussion compositions have been published by Beruskens Muziekuitgeverij of the Netherlands, Oude Pastorienstraat 34/ 5993 XX Maasbre/ The Netherlands and are available through this publisher's distributors in France, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany.

Raised in Jacksonville, Illinois, my musical training began at a young age with piano and voice lessons. I began harp study during high school at the age of 15. My first harp teacher was Alice Spero Keene, the professor of harp at the University of Illinois in Champaign. Subsequent teachers include Beatriz Martin-Ruiz of the University of Illinois and Suzann Davids of Valparaiso University.

After attending Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois for two years, I transferred to Valparaiso University in Indiana where I graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and in 2005 with a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (History Concentration). While at Bradley, I sang with the Chorale and Community Chorus, played harp for a performance of George Crumb's "Ancient Voices of Children" with the New Music Ensemble, and appeared as a soloist in the Prism concert series. I was fortunate to be able to tour Poland and the Czech Republic with the Bradley Chorale. At this time, I also began teaching beginning harp students and performed at events in Peoria and the surrounding areas.

At Valparaiso University, I was a member of the Chorale and Orchestra, touring with both groups throughout the United States. I gave vocal solo recitals in January of 2001 and April of 2003. As a harpist, I also accompanied the VU Chorale for their Christmas recording “Christ Child: Songs of the Nativity,” available from VUCA Media, and the Kantorei choir for Christmas Vespers services. I was a member of the pit orchestra for Valparaiso University's production of "The Ballad of Baby Doe" in 2001, and for the Memorial Opera House production of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" in 2005.

Currently, I am active as a freelance harpist working throughout the Midwest, performing at numerous weddings, fundraisers, funerals, corporate functions, and other events. I am also a founding member of Glissando Harps, a harp ensemble that provides music for all occasions.

I was born in 1942, read physics at Magdalen College, Oxford and after a two year period of postdoctoral research at the University of Sheffield was appointed in 1970 to a lecturship at what became the University of Northumbria where I remained until 1997 when I took early retirement.

Since the age of 14 when I attended my first orchestral concert, a strong interest in music, including the wish to compose. In this I have been largely self taught, although some early training as a choirboy came in handy. Since 1994 I have attended COMA summer schools which have included composition classes with Michael Parsons, Diana Burrell, Daryl Runswick, Michael Finnissy and Deidre Gribbin. After some private lessons with Agustin Fernandez at Newcastle University, in 1999 I enrolled on a two year part time MMus in composition at Newcastle where I initially studied under Agustin Fernandez and latterly with Deidre Gribbin.
