A hugely appealing programme designed to help you celebrate the weekend in style! Note - there are two performances available, 6pm and 8.30pm. 'Stunning' - Classic FM Since its formation in 2017, the Piccadilly Sinfonietta have become a regular feature on the UK concert scene, giving up to 100 performances a year in some of the country’s most beautiful and prestigious venues. The ensemble comprises some of the most prodigious musical talent and performs exclusively with leading virtuoso soloists. The group performs under the artistic direction of its founder, concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith and focuses on the virtuoso concerto repertoire of the baroque, classical and early romantic periods. Members of the orchestra are not only among the UK’s finest soloists and chamber musicians, but also among the UK’s finest interpreters of new music. The Magnum Opus scheme has been designed to allow three composers to develop their writing careers, giving them opportunities to engage with professional musicians and develop a year-long relationship with the orchestra. This event is the culmination of the 2021–22 scheme and showcases the composers’ final commissions, a concerto for a solo instrument of their choice and small ensemble, developed with the support of Programme Directors Dobrinka Tabakova and Joe Cutler. |

"Stunning" Classic FM The brilliant piano music of the great Frederic Chopin has never been out of fashion since it first burst onto the international scene in the early 19th century. This music wasn’t intended for the great concert halls of today, but for the intimate setting of Parisian and London Salons of the aristocracy. This was the setting where Chopin felt most at ease and improvised many of his works for the first time. |

Note - there are two performances available: 6pm and 8.30pm Katherine Jenkinson has performed as recitalist and concerto soloist throughout Europe, in Africa, Asia and the USA. In contemporary music, she has worked closely with composers Arvo Pärt, Oliver Davis, Anthony Payne, Richard Allain and Thomas Hyde; in 2018 Oliver Davis invited Katherine to record his cello concerto ‘Morpheus' with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, an album which subsequently became a Classic FM and iTunes hit. Warren Mailley-Smith became the first British pianist to perform Chopin's complete works for solo piano from memory in a series of 11 recitals at St John's Smith Square. Hailed by the critics as an "epic achievement", Mailley-Smith will repeat the series at several venues in 2022.. He has given acclaimed solo recitals at The Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall and has performed for the British Royal Family on numerous occasions. One of the busiest concert pianists of his generation and gave over 100 solo performances in 2021. |
