The Boston Philharmonic Orchestra's final concert of the 2024-25 season features the "achingly poignant” and internationally recognized mezzo-soprano Dame Sarah Connolly, who returns to the BPO stage as soloist on Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Resurrection with Swedish soprano Miah Persson, as well as Chorus Pro Musica. The themes of life, death, and resurrection resonate deeply on Good Friday, making it a fitting finale to the BPO's season.

Composers Concordance

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 7 PM at Kostabi World, Composers Concordance presents the Leo Genovese & Franz Hackl Duo, performing their repertoire and new compositions for trumpet and piano. Premieres include Genovese's *Wait a Day* and Gene Pritsker's *Imminent*, alongside works by Hackl and Mark Kostabi.

Born in Argentina, pianist Leo Genovese studied classical piano before moving to Boston in 2001 to attend Berklee College of Music. He has performed with Esperanza Spalding, Wayne Shorter, and Jack DeJohnette. Based in New York, he hopes his music inspires change beyond entertainment.

Trumpeter and composer Franz Hackl is the founder of the Outreach Orchestra, Festival, and Academy. He has toured internationally, performed at top jazz clubs, and composed for events like the UN’s *Year of the Mountains*. His innovative approach blends tradition with a forward-thinking style.

Composers Concordance

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 7 PM at NUBLU, Composers Concordance presents *The Fiddlers*, featuring violinists Daisy Castro, Jason Hwang, Dave Soldier, and Mazz Swift, backed by Gene Pritsker (guitar), Laurence Goldman (bass), and Damien Bassman (drums).

The program includes premieres of *Witness* (Pritsker), *Blurred* (Bogojevic), and *Callisto* (Castro), plus works by Cooper, Goldman, Hwang, Soldier, and Swift. Part of the *Timbre Tantrum* series, the event also features the Eoin O’Mara Group.

Castro blends Jazz Manouche with global influences. Hwang’s work reflects his cultural heritage and has earned international acclaim. Soldier, a multi-genre artist, co-founded the Thai Elephant Orchestra and has collaborated with icons like Bo Diddley. Swift, a Juilliard-trained violinist, infuses improvisation and African American musical traditions into their compositions.

On April 28, 2025, at 8 PM, Composers Concordance presents *Generations XIV*, featuring winners of the Generations Composition Competition: Aaron Reising (*re-act-ion*) and Kevin Malone (*Your Call is Important to Us*).

Their works will be performed by Emerald Trio—Karen Bogardus (flute), Orlando Wells (viola), and Geoffrey Burleson (piano)—alongside pieces by Lynn Bechtold, Dan Cooper, Stefania de Kenessey, Mark Kostabi, Lila Meretzky, Audrey Morse, Gene Pritsker, and Marina Vesic.

Known for blending classical, jazz, cabaret, and theater, Emerald Trio crafts innovative programs drawing from their diverse musical backgrounds.
