Lara Downes has attracted attention as one of the most exciting and communicative pianists of today's younger generation. She has been cited by critics for her "breathtaking virtuosity" and "penetrating, sensitive accounts of classical and romantic repertoire", and has been hailed as "an artist worthy of placement in the highest rank of classical performers". Since making noteworthy debuts at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, Ms. Downes performs extensively throughout Europe and the United States. Her eclectic and engaging programs encompass both the standard repertoire and works by young composers such as Augusta Read Thomas and Stephen Paulus. Her recent projects include a Copland Centennial recital, a recently discovered piano concerto by Clara Schumann, and a four-part recital series entitled "This American Century". She recently made the world premiere recording of "On Gossamer Wings" by legendary jazz composer Benny Golson for the Arkadia/Postcards label.

Ms. Downes' busy solo and chamber career is strongly impacted by her commitment to expanding and developing new audiences for the arts. She dedicates time during her concert tours to elementary school workshops, and has developed a wide network of community outreach through the University of California. She is the co-founder and artistic director of Arts Exchange, a project dedicated to building creative partnerships between the visual and performing arts. I'm a young musician from Aberdeen who is preparing to study Composition and Conducting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Despite being still quite young, I have composed various pieces, mainly for small ensembles designed to be both challanging to the player while being incorporating areas of entertainment which are identifiable to a wider audience. My recent works include "Fanfare and Jubilation", "Little Suite" both for which are for Wind Quintet, and "Contest Tryptich" for Brass Quartet. The two Wind Quintet pieces both won there categories in the Aberdeen Music Festival with an outstanding classification and "Contest Tryptich" is to be performed at the Schools Solos and Quartets finals by the Cults Academy Brass Quartet.

On the Conducting front, I currently conduct the Aberdeen City Youth Wind Quintet and the GCO Wind Quintet. In addition, I have in the past conducted the Bon-Accord Silver Brass Band, the Aberdeen University Wind Band, the Cults Academy Wind Quintet and the Grampian Concert Orchestra. Despite my interest in small ensembles, I am interested in taking some larger groups, with which I can develop my Conducting ability.

F L Dunkin Wedd was born at Chiddingstone Castle, Kent in 1955. He studied piano and cello at school, and sang in the choir; as a teenager he played guitar and wrote material for folk and jazz groups.

Composition came naturally; even before he could read music he was writing it - with his elder sister as reluctant amanuensis! But he did not settle down to serious composition until the 1980s, when he studied with Peter Aviss and Barry Seaman.

His piece Dimitri's Train won first prize in its category in the London Chamber Group Piece of the Year competition of 2003, winning best piece for string quartet and wind solo. His works include symphonic and choral music; songs; chamber music for piano, wind, brass and strings, and music for a film; an opera is near completion.

His works have been performed by ensembles such as the Cann Duo, the Bingham String Quartet, the Bebeto String Quartet, The Rivoli String Quartet, Kingston Brass, London String Soloists, and The Cremone Trio; instrumentalists Clifford Benson, David Campbell, Rena Rzaeva, Penelope Howard and Elizabeth Moore; choirs The Sporgersi Singers, The Sackville Singers, Wimbledon Chamber Choir and the occasional singers; and singers Jane Manning, Dilys, Sarah and Emily Benson and Sandra Graham. Performances have taken place as far afield as Germany and Azerbaijan. He is a member of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters.

Name: Raychev & Boyadzhiev Duo Accento (Piano&Piano)

Once The musicians Doychin Raychev and Miroslav Boyadzhiev were both born in 1976 in Bulgaria. Since 1998 they have been working together as a piano duo. They soon won some first prices and began their concert activities in Bulgaria and neighbouring countries. First successes brought Doychin Raychev and Miroslav Boyadzhiev to Japan, where they won the Grand Prix at the Fifth International Piano-Duo-Competition in Tokyo.

Yesterday Striving to come closer to the culture of the masters of the classical music in Germany, Austria, France and Italy, and in particular to tread new paths in the repertoire fields, the two artists went in 2002 to Switzerland. They decided to begin studies for piano duo at the newly founded University of Arts in Berne. Intensive discussions concerning the German and French standard repertoire and the music of the 20th century began with Rada Petkova and other professors of the University. Beyond that, they received important support from Klaus Helwig in Berlin and Fou Ts’ong in London.

Today Today, the duo are one of the leading ensembles for late romantic and contemporary repertoires. They performed at the “Reger-Tage” in Meiningen (Germany), played in different European cities and at various occasions, e.g. in the presence of the assembled Swiss Government. Live-concerts were recorded by the radio and they have also appeared on television. The musicians love to cooperate with living composers such as Theresa Procaccini, Dieter Amman and Jürg Wyttenbach, with whom they develop the works together. The duo’s present repertoire covers large parts of the standard works for piano duos of the 19th century.

Tomorrow In the future the duo plans to commission works from younger up and coming composers. An important task for the duo is to re-introduce the almost forgotten repertoire of the skriabin genre. Moreover the duo would like to concentrate on concertos for 2 pianos and orchestra from the early Romantic period. In addition to this, their focus will be on the composers of the Romantic period and 20th century. In this area, the two musicians have the best opportunity to create an orchestral sound offered by the setting of two pianos.

"The performance of the piano concerto is full of color and sweeping power. The agility and conviction of Gianeh's playing is irresistible." -Peter Burwasser Fanfare Music Magazine "I find this new recording by Gianeh Arakelyan very impressive, and not just for her piano playing, which is very accomplished, but also for the contribution of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and its conductor, Ruben Asatryan. This is a very exciting, even driven performance, which makes the most of Khachaturian's strong rhythmic pulse. A very nice release, and I will certainly want to listen to repeatedly." -Jerry Dubins Fanfare Magazine
